Description of Work - This solicitation and any resultant contract is a stewardship project in accordance with Section 323 of Public Law 108-7 (16 U.S.C. 2104 Note, as revised February 28, 2003 to reflect sec. 323 of J.J. Res. 2 as enrolled), the Consolidated Appropriations Resolution, 2003, amending Public Law 105-277, sec. 347. This is a commercial item acquisition that has been tailored to fit the Government's method of trading goods for services. There are 7 mandatory timber cutting units totaling an estimated 1038 CCF of sawtimber and pulpwood, with an option of an additional 599 CCF. In addition, there are 5 mandatory and 9 optional stewardship projects. Mandatory Stewardship projects are: 1.2 miles temporary road construction and closure, and 1 road maintenance projects. The Optional Stewardship Projects are: 0.6 miles temporary road construction and closure, 1 road maintenance projects, and 17 acres timber harvest and removal of all designated trees Treatment areas consist of natural stands. Thinning of merchantable trees will be accomplished through cutting of individually designated trees. Reduction of hazardous fuels will be accomplished by thinning of small conifers, brush and small tree cutting, and piling.
