AI Contract Overview
NASA plans to award a sole source purchase order to Lectrodryer for the refurbishment of High Pressure Gas Facility (HPGF) Air Dryer units, specifically the HPB-600 dryer model. Lectrodryer is uniquely qualified for this contract as the original equipment manufacturer, possessing proprietary design knowledge, specialized refurbishment skills, and exclusive access to OEM-specific components such as main globe valves, instrumentation upgrades, and custom fabricated piping essential for compatibility with the existing system. This ensures that no alternative vendors can meet the technical, compatibility, and safety standards required for the refurbishment work. The procurement will follow the authority of FAR 12.102 and is targeted for award before the end of fiscal year 2026. The solicitation is a special notice under NASA’s Simplified Acquisition Procedures, not a request for proposal, inviting responsible sources to submit capability statements by May 18, 2026. These submissions will help NASA determine whether to pursue a competitive acquisition, though the final decision to proceed without competition rests solely with the agency. The contract is managed by NASA Stennis Space Center, with the work performed in Richmond, Kentucky. Relevant NASA clauses such as the Ombudsman clause 1852.215-84 apply, providing oversight and support through designated procurement ombudsmen to ensure fairness in the acquisition process. Points of contact for this procurement are Desiree Vogt and David Christiani.
