HM4-T Lake Signal

The HM4-T Lake Signal project, managed by Caltrans District 1 in Eureka, involves the comprehensive overhaul of aging traffic management infrastructure on State Highway 53 in Lake County, California. The primary objective is to enhance operational efficiency and reliability by replacing obsolete signal heads, wiring, cabinets, controllers, and associated cabinet components that have reached the end of their lifecycle or are in poor condition. All replacements must adhere to current industry-standard equipment to ensure the modernization of the existing system. All project activities are strictly confined to the existing State right-of-way, with no anticipated disturbance to soil or vegetation beyond existing pavement and disturbed areas. Due to the nature of the work as maintenance of an existing facility, the project has been granted a Notice of Exemption under Class 1, CCR Title 14, section 15301, as it is determined to have no significant environmental or historic impact. The project is overseen by Senior Environmental Scientist James McIntosh.
