Due to data restrictions, the only source for this item is the OEM, Bell Helicopter, cage 97499. Procurement history in IHS system shows that Bell Helicopter is the supplier of this item for the last 40 years. However, surplus material with identical design can be purchased. Item from a surplus source must have documentation that states the original manufacturer, cage code, date of manufacturing, and a Certificate of Conformance. Surplus item purchase documentation must be reviewed and approved by Engineering. Delivery: 12 Months ARO Ship To: DO 35K Depot Supply, SW3119 DDWG-ER-DLA, Central Receiving, 455 Byron Street, Robins AFB, GA 31098 This item is part of the main transmission gearbox and is approximate 14 x 12 x 6 inches. It is made of cast alloy and has intricate design. The main transmission gearbox transfers the power from the engine output shaft to the main rotor drive shaft and the tail rotor shaft. The lower housing contains the oil sump and other components inside the gearbox. Since the transmission gearbox is the vital component of the rotor drive train, the housing is an important component of the helicopter. This housing has critical characteristics which if not conforming to the design of the part could cause failure of the part. Failure of this item can result in the loss of aircraft and possible loss of life. The lower transmission housing, part number 204-040-355-5 is the only transmission housing authorized for use on the UH-1N and UH-1H/V helicopter.
