The emergency project is in Humboldt County along SR 299 from PM 23.5 and 27.3. Heavy winter rains during late February and March caused damage to the highway facility at three locations within the project PM limits due to saturated soils, erosion and earth movement. At PM 23.5, a landslide on WB SR 299 resulted in a cutslope and earth debris in the road, at PM 24.07 a slipout of WB embankment slope damaging rail element wall, guardrail, drainage system and roadway asphalt, and at PM 27.3 a sink in travel way causing damage to drainage system and roadway asphalt. The purpose of the project is to stabilize and restore damaged slopes, drainage, and roadway facilities. The project is needed to restore the traveled way and protect the public from imminent safety hazards.
