Humboldt County Regional Vision Zero Action Plan Safety Demonstration Projects

The Humboldt County Regional Vision Zero Action Plan Safety Demonstration Projects, managed by the Humboldt County Association of Governments, involves the installation of temporary safety improvements within existing rights-of-way to enhance multi-modal transportation safety. All project activities will occur within the existing footprints of roadways and sidewalks and do not increase vehicular capacity. The initiative is designed to benefit the general public through various localized safety interventions across several cities in California. The project has received a Class I Categorical Exemption under the CEQA Guidelines, certifying its compliance with environmental standards for such temporary installations. Specific project deliverables are distributed across four key locations. In Arcata, approximately six temporary speed humps and warning signage will be installed along 11th and K Streets. Ferndale will receive temporary speed humps or tables, pavement markings, signage, and dynamic feedback signs along 5th Street between Arlington Street and Shaw Avenue. Fortuna will see the installation of high-visibility programmable radar feedback signs along two school roadway corridors, specifically the 12th Street and Ross Hill Road corridors. Finally, Eureka will feature temporary mini roundabout striping at the intersections of G Street and 8th Street and L Street and 8th Street, supplemented by rubber wheel stops and delineators.
