This contract involves the replacement of five Dune Walkover Structures along the coast of Volusia County, Florida, which were destroyed by Hurricane Ian in 2022. The project covers locations from Ormond By the Sea to Daytona Beach and Ponce Inlet, with each site featuring unique layouts and designs but sharing common structural details and construction methodologies. In addition to the standard timber walkover structures, three sites require special enhancements: a roofing structure over a seating area at San Jose, reestablishment of a waterline and shower head at Goodall, and sidewalk extension at Winterhaven to connect with the dune walkover at the seawall. The project demands a contractor capable of mobilizing quickly and working across multiple sites simultaneously, with work scheduled to begin during the Turtle Nesting Season, necessitating adherence to specific environmental and safety protocols. The project is valued between $500,000 and $1,500,000 and is managed by the Volusia Coastal Department under the Florida agency. The solicitation was posted on June 28, 2024, with a response deadline of August 1, 2024. Interested contractors can contact Inga Fegley via email or phone for further details. The project emphasizes coordination with environmental considerations, especially during turtle nesting, and aims to restore critical coastal infrastructure impacted by storm damage.
