THIS RFI REPLACES RFIN95 THAT WAS PUBLISHED ON 17 NOVEMBER 2023. NOTE: THIS RFI IS FOR INDUSTRIAL BASE MANAGEMENT & SUPPLY CHAIN (IBMSC). The purpose of this RFI is to gain knowledge regarding current/future production and market capacity to sustain domestic capacities for the manufacturing of N95 respirators. The key to having robust national medical support is having available, agile, and sustained N95 respirator manufacturing capacity. N95 respirator availability affects the ability of laboratory and medical workers to safely perform their duties. Laboratories and medical workers are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect themselves from exposure to pathogens during the collection and testing of clinical specimens. The Government is seeking to address potential future shortages in domestic N95 production by sustaining a warm industrial base and supply chain that can rapidly expand to meet domestic medical emergencies. The capabilities of interest are those that preserve development capacity, infrastructure support, production capacity, and enablers to produce N95 respirators, which could potentially serve as platforms for responding to future pandemics and managing daily medical challenges. See the attached RFI for details and submission requirements.
