Lee County Animal Services is seeking a sole-source procurement from IDEXX Distribution Inc. for the purchase of IDEXX SNAP in-house animal health testing kits. These proprietary diagnostic kits are used to test for heartworm disease, Feline Leukemia, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, Parvo Virus, Giardia, and various tick-borne illnesses. The county has selected IDEXX as the sole source because they are the only manufacturer of the SNAP test, which is recognized for its high accuracy and specificity in the field of animal diagnostics. The procurement process is being conducted in accordance with Procurement Ordinance 25-11, with a response deadline of September 16, 2026. This approach ensures consistency between in-house diagnostics and reference laboratory testing for shelter animals.
