Full Description

The National Institutes of Health intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Imagine Eyes. This NEI Intramural Research Program (IRP) supports ongoing research to understand visual function and blinding disease. The program office would like to purchase the Imagine Eyes RTX1-E High-Resolution Adaptive Optics (AO) Flood Illumination Fundus Camera. The Imagine Eyes RTX1-E Adaptive Optics (AO) system is used to image the retina in live animals at extremely high resolution - to the level of individual cells. The retina is the tissue at the back of the eye responsible for the first stages of vision. This level of resolution is critically valuable for monitoring the structural health of the retina and will have application in numerous studies of retinal function and disease including ongoing preclinical studies for the development of a cell-based therapy to treat retinal degeneration. This instrument will be used solely for animal experiments and reside in the NEI's Visual Function Core (VFC). Responses The proposed acquisition action is for items and services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. If you believe your company can provide the equipment requested, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, which shall be considered by the agency.
