The Alameda County Public Works Agency is proposing roadway improvements along West Sunset Boulevard from Hesperian Boulevard to Royal Avenue in the unincorporated area of Alameda County. The project involves the construction of pervious and Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) sidewalk, and PCC curb and gutter. Additional work includes approximately one (1) tree removal; street tree plantings; roadway resurfacing, repair and/or reconstruction not involving widening or realignment; reconstruction of existing drainage inlets; replacement of existing speed humps; signing and striping; and utility relocations and adjustments. The deepest depth of excavation would be approximately 3 feet for the tree well installations. The project and its construction activities would be within the County road right of way (except for minor conforms behind new sidewalk and driveways at various locations), and include traffic control measures and BMPs to protect the environment. The purpose of the project is to improve pedestrian access and traffic safety on West Sunset Boulevard by extending the new sidewalks and rehabilitating the pavement from Royal Avenue to Hesperian Boulevard.
