The US Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District is conducting market research in preparation for a major multi-billion dollar construction program linked to the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) efforts affecting military installations in the San Antonio area. This program, expected to span approximately four years, will primarily focus on medical-related facilities such as hospitals, clinics, surgical centers, and research laboratories, alongside various support structures including barracks, training centers, garages, youth centers, fire stations, vehicle maintenance shops, and fitness centers. The scope includes new vertical construction, renovations, and demolition projects. The government aims to assess industry capability and capacity through an Industry Day Forum scheduled for August 15, 2006, at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center in San Antonio. This free event seeks input from a broad range of stakeholders including contractors, industry organizations, and associations, encouraging participation across small and large businesses under relevant NAICS codes spanning construction, specialty trades, and professional services. Participants are encouraged to review a detailed Microsoft PowerPoint presentation and complete a market research questionnaire available on the Fort Worth District’s contracting website by August 30, 2006, to aid in government planning and decision-making. The initiative is designed to explore alternative approaches for executing the program effectively, and the solicitation broadcasts widely across multiple NAICS codes to maximize outreach. Advance registration for the forum is highly recommended through provided online links to ensure smooth participation. This effort reflects the Department of Defense’s commitment to transparency and inclusive industry engagement as it undertakes significant infrastructure development driven by BRAC mandates.
