AI Contract Overview
The Fleet Readiness Center Southwest is pursuing the acquisition of two low-profile aircraft tow tractors designed specifically for safe and efficient handling of F/A-18E/F Super Hornet aircraft in tight hangar, flight line, and maintenance environments. To support this effort, an initial industry engagement event was held on May 14, 2026, at Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego, California, aimed at gathering industry input through market research and direct demonstrations of capabilities. Following this, a formal demonstration period is scheduled for June 10–12, 2026, where qualified vendors must coordinate timing with FRCSW points of contact and complete mandatory security vetting procedures. All participants are required to submit an FRCSW Form 5512/5 by June 3, 2026, to enable base access, and must adhere to strict on-site safety protocols including the use of closed-toe footwear and provided personal protective equipment. The procurement is not yet solicited, and no obligation to award a contract exists. The government will not cover any costs associated with participation, nor will it reimburse expenses incurred during demonstrations or site visits. This effort falls under NAICS code 333924 for aircraft manufacturing support and is being managed through the Department of Defense with primary contracting oversight from Amanda Taylor and Tiffany Crayle. The solicitation number N68520-26-RFPREQ-KN00000-0273 has been issued as a special notice to facilitate industry engagement, not as a formal request for proposals. Vendors are encouraged to respond by the June 3, 2026, deadline to ensure inclusion in the demonstration schedule, with all communications routed through the designated points of contact. The Navy remains in a market research phase, with no commitment to proceed with a contract award, and no proprietary information shared during interactions will be compensated or protected beyond standard government procurement guidelines.
