Announcement:  


The Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW) is sponsored an unclassified Industry Event on May 14, 2026. The event was held at FRCSW, which is located at Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, CA. The purpose of this event was to conduct formal market research and industry engagement in support of FRCSW MRO-L’s planned procurement of two (2) low-profile aircraft tow tractors capable of safely supporting F/A-18E/F Super Hornet towing operations in constrained hangar, flight line, and maintenance/production environments. The intent was for FRCSW to communicate validated operational requirements, assess commercially available industry solutions, evaluate technical feasibility and vendor capabilities, and strengthen acquisition planning through direct collaboration with qualified vendors.  Questions received during Industry Day will be posted here prior to the closing of this annoucement.


In the continuation of Market Research, FRCSW invites interested parties to demonstrate their tow tractor capabilities.  Demonstrations will be scheduled June 10-12, 2026.  Vendors are to coordinate their day/time with the FRCSW POCS below and must follow the information below in “Registration and Vetting” to ensure they have proper access for themselves and any equipment that must be brought on-site.  


REGISTRATION AND VETTING


All site visit participants are required to register in advance for this event. Participants who plan on attending must notify the FRCSW Points of Contact (POCs) listed below of their intent to attend via e-mail and reference: “FY26 FRCSW Aircraft Tow Tractors Demo” in the subject line. FRCSW Security Department require that all visitors attending be properly vetted before given access to the base.


An FRCSW Form 5512/5 needs to be submitted for each vendor attending the industry day. Please submit one 5512/5 listing all participants for your company. Form 5512/5 must be returned to the FRCSW POCs via e-mail no later than June 3, 2026, to allow enough time to complete the vetting process.  Space will be limited.

Fleet Readiness Centers (FRCs) provide depot Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul, and Upgrade (MRO&U), In-service Repair (ISR), and manufacturing services in support of fixed and rotary wing aircraft, aircraft engines, aeronautical components, and support equipment across the Naval Aviation Enterprise (NAE). The goal of this Industry Day event at FRCSW is to seek ideas and solutions for low-profile, high-maneuverability, safety-compliant aircraft tow tractor systems that meet FRCSW’s operational, dimensional, performance, sustainment, and mission-readiness requirements for all aircraft with focus on F/A-18E/F ground handling operations.


This event will begin at the Naval Base Coronado Visitor Control Center (VCC) located in San Diego, CA. Government representatives will meet participants outside of the base at the Visitor Control Center, located just to the left of the main gate (Gate 1) at NB Coronado on 4th Ave, Building 680, starting at 0800 PST. While at NAS North Island, all attendees must comply with all base and safety regulations.


Upon check-in at the VCC, participants will receive a nametag and the schedule of events that are planned for the day. Participants will be bused from the VCC to the FRCSW meeting location and Tour site.


Please note there may be walking involved during the tour within the facility. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the form of safety glasses and ear plugs will be provided by the Government to vendor partners, if required. Individual participants must wear flat, closed toe, closed heel shoes. 


The Industry Day will follow the general itinerary as outlined below:

  • 0845-0900: FRCSW Quarterdeck check-in/visitor badge issue
  • 0900-10:30: Welcome and opening remarks
  • 1030-1200: Tour of FRCSW/Current Tow Tractors
  • 1200-1300: Lunch
  • 1300-1500: Reconvene at meeting location and open forum Q&A session
  • 1500-1530: Closing Remarks
  • 1530: End of Day
