The U.S. Department of Energy announced a Notice to Prospective Offerors on February 22, 2008, inviting interested parties to participate in an Information Exchange scheduled for March 25-26, 2008. This meeting is focused on the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant Decontamination and Decommissioning Project, which is a large-scale, multi-billion dollar initiative. The DOE intends to select a Management and Integration contractor to oversee and coordinate the complex activities involved in the project. The Portsmouth GDP facilities have been in a state of Cold Standby and Cold Shutdown since enrichment operations ceased in 2001, marking this as a significant step toward addressing the site's environmental and operational legacy. This opportunity emphasizes the DOE’s commitment to advancing cleanup efforts at the Portsmouth site through strategic contractor engagement. Although certain contract specifics such as set-aside types, NAICS codes, or detailed organizational information are not provided, the essential focus is clear: to engage industry stakeholders and prepare for a major decommissioning effort. Additional details and updates are made available through the DOE’s dedicated project website, aiming to ensure transparency and information sharing during the acquisition process.
