The Government of Canada, through Infrastructure, is soliciting qualified design-build contractors to deliver the replacement of Westwood 7-12 Community High School in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The project involves the construction of a new 10,461 square metre school with a capacity for 1,215 students, to be operated by the Fort McMurray Public School Division, alongside the demolition of the existing school and the development of a new rugby field on its site. The Province has already engaged a Bridging Consultant to complete schematic design and secure development permit documentation from the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, and this consultant will remain as the Province’s representative throughout all phases of design and construction. The selected Design-Builder will take the approved schematic design and advance it through detailed design, construction documentation, and obtain all necessary permits and approvals from regulatory authorities, fully assuming responsibility for the integrated delivery of design and construction under the design-build delivery method. This Request for Qualification, identified as AB-2026-04446, was posted on July 9, 2026, with responses due by July 14, 2026. The contract opportunity is open to qualified firms capable of executing complex educational infrastructure projects, with the primary point of contact being Mischa Maree, Contracting Authority, reachable via email. The project is located in Alberta and falls under the federal agency’s infrastructure mandate. Respondents must demonstrate relevant experience, capacity, and technical capability to deliver a large-scale school facility under a tightly defined timeline and in coordination with existing provincial design groundwork. No set-aside provisions are specified, and the opportunity is issued under the federal procurement framework managed via Canada Buys.
