The proposed project would involve the procurement and use of electric forklifts and installation of electrical chargers for the electric forklifts by the San Diego Unified Port District (District) at the B Street Cruise Ship Terminal (see Exhibit 1) in the city of San Diego, California. Work to specifically complete the proposed project would involve:
• Procurement of approximately two (2) electric forklifts for use within the B Street Cruise Ship Terminal;
• Installation of approximately two (2) chargers for electric forklifts within the existing warehouse Section C (southwest corner of the warehouse) to be connected to existing electrical infrastructure. Dimensions of chargers are approximately 18” x 12” x 4”;
• Ongoing inspections, maintenance, repairs, and replacement of chargers and electric forklifts as-needed.
Construction of the proposed project is anticipated to occur in approximately late-2026 and would take approximately one (1) day to complete with ongoing modifications and maintenance as needed. Equipment required for project completion would consist of hand tools, work trucks and associated equipment. During construction, there would be no closures required for the sidewalk, promenade, street or parking lot adjacent to the proposed project location.
Due to its nature and limited scope, construction of the proposed project would generate a minor amount of vehicle trips and would require limited use of equipment. Therefore, impacts related to air quality, greenhouse gas emissions, and transportation and traffic are not anticipated to occur. Furthermore, the District would be responsible for complying with all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding construction demolition debris, hazards and hazardous materials, and stormwater.
