Full Description

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Laboratory of Immunogenetics (LID) intends to negotiate on an other than full and open competition basis with Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC, One Zeiss Drive, Thornwood, NY 10594 to procure Anisotropy for LSM 880. This is to include the following components and computer system: (1) Filter equipment to measure, #0000002014807000, and Install #0000001491298, qty-1 each, (2) Upgrade Illum. Module Fast Airyscan, #0000002153946000, Upgrade ZEN 2.1 to ZEN 2.3 System US HWL, #4101381105230000, and Install #0000001491298, qty -1 each (3) Storage & Data Analysis PC LSFM 32 TB, #4109002064057000, Monitor TFT 27"HP Z27n, #4103502700000000, and ZEN 2.3 desk Hardware License Key, 4101351004230000. This acquisition will be processed under FAR Part 12 - Acquisition for Commercial Items and will be made pursuant to the authority in FAR Part 13.501(a)(1). Only one award will be made as a result of this solicitation. This will be awarded as a firm fixed price type of contract. Delivery to Rockville, Maryland 20852 approximately 6 to 8 weeks after receipt of award. The laboratories within the LIG and a number of neighboring labs regularly perform imaging experiments on the lab's confocal microscope systems. Recently replaced an obsolete confocal microscope with the Zeiss LSM 880. This requirement is an upgrade to the existing LSM 880 to a "FAST" System. The upgrade requires field installation of the FAST components and computer system to handle the data stream from the microscope. The FAST upgrade is only provided by Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC. This is the only manufacturer that can install the upgrade to maintain the warranty and the terms of the contract. The existing equipment must be compatible and no substitutions allowed. The statutory authority for this sole source requirement is 41 U.S.C. 253 (c) (1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1 only one source available, no substitutions possible, and replacement parts must be compatible with existing equipment. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTATIONS. All responsible sources who can provide the same or similar equipment may submit a response that could be considered by email (subject line to reference NIAID-NOI-16-1807926) to Tonia Alexander at contact@example.gov, by 5:00 pm eastern standard time Thursday, August 18, 2016. All information furnished must be in writing and must contain sufficient detail to allow NIAID to determine if it can meet the above unique specifications described herein.
