To All Interested Vendors: The University of Montana is considering a request from the UM Research Administration Office to award a Sole Source contract to Casimir Jones S.C. to provide legal services specializing in patent law for the Office of Research and Creative Scholarship on the University of Montana campus. As part of the University’s mission, the Office of Research and Creative Scholarship oversees the management of intellectual property developed under research performed within the scope of an employee’s job responsibility. Management of the intellectual property requires representation by a patent attorney to the U.S. Patent and Trademark office. Casmir Jones S.C. will provide general intellectual property services with preparation and prosecution of patent applications and other general business matters as required. Casmir Jones S.C. will prosecute a provisional patent and then the non-provisional patent within a yeear for an invention disclosure filed by a University of Montana faculty member. On-going patent portfolio management is required for the life of the patent. Additionally Casmir Jones S.C. will be providing an inventor ship analysis on a second invention disclosure filed by the same University of Montana faculty member. Possible Patent prosecurtion may follow. This is not a request for competitive proposals, please see our intent to sole source justification below.
