The Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP), Fleet Logistics Center in Jacksonville, FL, plans to issue a sole source contract to ARC Machines Inc. (AMI) under Simplified Acquisition Procedures for an upgrade to their custom-manufactured AMI Orbital Portable Pipe Welding System’s M81 Weld Head Serial 54549. This upgrade, which includes parts and installation, is intended for the Trident Refit Facility (TRF) in Kings Bay, GA, and will add AVC Tilt capability to enhance the testing and repair of Auxiliary Sea Water Valves on SSBN and SSGN submarines during refits. The modernization aims to improve efficiency in replacing ASW liners by reducing man-hours and lowering defect and rejection rates, thus providing significant operational benefits. AMI is identified as the sole source because it is the exclusive manufacturer and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for the AMI Orbital Portable Pipe Welding System and the M81 Weld Head. The acquisition falls under NAICS code 333992, with a size standard of 1,250 employees, and PSC Code 3431.
