Iron Horse Trail Lower Walnut Creek Channel, Imhoff Drive Connection

The East Bay Regional Park District plans to extend the Iron Horse Regional Trail approximately 1,500 feet north from its current endpoint at Marsh Drive to Imhoff Drive in Concord, California, enhancing regional connectivity and recreational access. The project will upgrade the existing compact dirt and gravel access road to a paved surface consistent with the trail’s current conditions, ensuring a uniform, accessible pathway for pedestrians and cyclists. Three under-crossings will be constructed at Marsh Drive, State Route 4 near the Walnut Creek Bridge, and Imhoff Drive to safely accommodate trail users crossing these roadways without disrupting vehicular traffic. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to expand and improve the regional trail network, with all work planned to align with established trail standards and environmental considerations.
