Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) at Patuxent River, MD awarded a Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP) contract N0001926C0134 to Parker Meggitt Defense Systems, Inc. (PMDSI). This award consists in a base production lot, the exercise of the first option lot, and a second option lot for NAVAIR and NAVSUP Full Rate Production (FRP) requirements.
The F/A-18E/F Infrared Search & Track (IRST) Block II Environmental Control Unit (ECU) Weapons Replaceable Assemblies (WRA) is capable of providing temperature control to the Infrared Receiver (IRR) and processor WRAs, procured on a separate contract vehicle.
This contract was awarded on a sole-source basis under statutory authority 10 U.S.C. 2304(C)(1) as implemented by the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, “Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy the requirements.” As the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for the F-18 IRST ECU, PMDSI has the manufacturing knowledge, experience, and technical data required to fulfil this requirement within the production time required to maintain program schedule.
