AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the repair or modification of a specific electromechanical actuator identified by NSN 7E-1680-015279565, with a quantity of one unit to be delivered FOB origin to Sierra Nevada Corporation in Sparks, Nevada. The government intends to solicit and negotiate the contract under a limited-source authority, specifically FAR 6.302-1, allowing the possibility to engage only one or a limited number of responsible sources due to the specialized nature of the part. Interested suppliers who consider themselves capable are invited to express their interest within 15 days, although this is not a competitive solicitation. The repair is restricted to sources certified by established source control or item drawings per DOD-STD-100 standards, given the absence of suitable technical data, government data rights, or manufacturing knowledge that would allow repairs by other providers. Additionally, the contract will include 100% options with a 180-day validity period. Market research has indicated that acquisition procedures under FAR Part 12 for commercial items are not applicable, although commercial item suppliers may still identify their capability to meet the requirement within the 15-day response period. The contracting office overseeing this acquisition is the Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support office in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, under the Department of Defense. The notice highlights that the government’s decision to limit competition is discretionary and based on the responses received.
