AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the procurement of six units of a specific flight-critical antenna component, designated under NSN 0R-5985-015303257-FX, with delivery terms FOB origin to EDO Corporation in Bohemia, New York. This acquisition is being conducted under a sole-source arrangement, as the Government intends to negotiate exclusively with the current approved source due to the lack of sufficient, accurate data to facilitate competitive bidding. The item requires prior Government source approval because of its critical nature and the limited availability of validated technical data, restricting the procurement to previously approved suppliers. Potential new suppliers may express interest and submit proposals, but must include detailed technical and source approval documentation as per NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support guidelines. Failure to provide all necessary source approval information will result in disqualification from consideration. The Government emphasizes that the determination not to compete the contract is discretionary and based largely on the evaluation of responses to this notice. If new source approval cannot be processed timely to meet operational requirements, the award may proceed with the current source to sustain fleet readiness. This effort is managed by NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support under solicitation number N0038312PG132, posted on July 5, 2012, and is related to the repair or modification of the antenna. Relevant guidance and technical data requirements for source approval and commercial item identification are accessible through NAVSUP's online brochures, ensuring that interested parties understand the compliance needed to be considered for future contracts or source approval processes.
