The Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office 6 at Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center intends to issue a sole source contract to Boston Scientific Corporation for maintenance and service of a Bayer AngioJet Ultra Thrombectomy system. The contract will cover a one-year period from November 17, 2018, through November 16, 2019. This procurement is authorized under FAR 6.302, allowing negotiation with a single source due to the specialized nature of the equipment and maintenance services required. The solicitation is not open for competitive bidding, though interested parties may express their interest and capabilities by a specified deadline; however, this does not guarantee contract consideration. The contract strictly requires that all supplied items and services originate from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or its authorized representatives to ensure compliance with warranty and service standards. Gray market or remanufactured items will not be accepted, and delivery of such items would constitute a breach of contract, potentially resulting in contract termination or mandatory replacement at no cost to the government. The overall intent is to secure OEM-compliant maintenance services to support the medical equipment at VA medical centers, preserving integrity, reliability, and continuity of care for veterans.
