The contract involves the procurement of five units of a specific bearing, designated NSN 7H-3120-012819518, intended for line shaft repair or modification. The items will be delivered FOB origin to American Metal Bearing Co. in Garden Grove, California. This notice indicates the Government's intent to negotiate exclusively with a single source, although interested parties may express their interest and submit quotes before the award. The Government has determined that acquiring data rights or reverse engineering the part for purchase from additional sources is uneconomical, which limits competition. Qualification requirements based on FAR clause 52.209-1 must be met by the offeror, product/service, or manufacturer at the time of contract award. Interested suppliers can obtain related Military and Federal Specifications and Standards through the DoD Single Stock Point and ASSIST-Online, but design-specific materials such as drawings and purchase descriptions are not stocked at these sources. Market research indicates that commercial item acquisition policies under FAR Part 12 do not apply; however, suppliers can still propose commercial items if capable within 15 days of the notice. The contracting agency is the Department of Defense's Navsup Weapon Systems Support Mech office in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, which provides oversight and further information regarding qualification and procurement details.
