The Naval Sea Systems Command is preparing to negotiate a Basic Ordering Agreement with Bath Iron Works Corporation to provide advanced planning, engineering, and management support for Post Shakedown Availabilities on various ships of the DDG 51 AEGIS Destroyer Class Program, specifically covering ships 90, 92, 94, 96, 99, and 101. This agreement will facilitate cost-type orders placed on a sole source basis, focusing on providing essential material and on-site engineering liaison services needed to support these scheduled ship maintenance and upgrade periods. Orders issued under this agreement will address not only post shakedown work but also emergent tasks related to Restricted Availabilities, drydocking, and technical availabilities. Each order under the Basic Ordering Agreement is required to be synopsized as per applicable regulations when necessary, allowing for transparency in individual procurement actions. The work spans a comprehensive range of planning and engineering efforts to ensure the ships are maintained and upgraded efficiently, supporting the Navy's operational readiness. Additionally, subcontracting opportunities will be available through Bath Iron Works, providing potential avenues for other firms to participate in these efforts.
