AI Contract Overview

The contract involves a sole source negotiation between the State of Idaho and the National Weather Service (NWS) to provide both routine and emergency maintenance for NWS-owned weather radio transmitter systems located at several remote sites across Idaho, including Cul De Sac Hill, Doe Point, Flat Top Butte, East Twin Butte, Cotterel Peak, and Brundage Mountain. The contract's period of performance is one year with an option for an additional year. The selected vendor will also be responsible for supplying vault and tower spaces, as well as air conditioning service at multiple sites, along with providing microwave service connecting Boise to Flat Top Butte, Boise to Brundage Mountain, and Pocatello to Sedgewick. The State of Idaho currently maintains radio technicians stationed at these remote locations, capable of rapid response to equipment issues and trained specifically to service NWS transmitter systems. Due to the remote nature of these sites, NOAA views this vendor as the sole available source to meet the contract needs. This procurement is a simplified acquisition with an estimated total value under $100,000, underscoring the specialized and limited scope of the services required.
