AI Contract Overview

This contract involves the procurement of 10 units of an electrical control J-panel, identified by NSN 7R-1680-015376341-FZ, under TDP version 001, with delivery terms FOB origin to Gables Engineering Inc. in Coral Gables, Florida. The Government intends to negotiate exclusively with a single approved source due to the critical and unstable design of the part. The item is flight critical and has demonstrated design and performance issues, leading to anticipated major changes that will render the current configuration obsolete. As a result, limited acquisition is planned from the current approved source while configuration improvements are developed. Only vendors with prior Government source approval have been solicited, and any new source must submit comprehensive technical data as outlined in NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support source approval brochures to be considered. The solicitation is a presolicitation notice by the Department of Defense’s Navsup Weapon Systems Support office in Philadelphia and does not represent a competitive quote request. Responses received before the award date will be reviewed solely to determine if full and open competition is feasible, but the Government retains discretion over this decision. If approval of a new source cannot be completed in time, awards may continue with the current source to meet fleet support needs. Offers missing required approval documentation will be excluded, emphasizing the importance of compliance with established source approval procedures for this highly technical and sensitive acquisition.
