AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the procurement of a single unit of a centrifugal pump for repair or modification, with the delivery terms set as FOB origin, and the item to be issued to Blackmer in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Government does not possess the data rights necessary to source this part from other suppliers, nor is it economically feasible to acquire or reverse engineer such data. While standard Military and Federal Specifications, as well as related standardized documents, can be accessed through official government channels such as the DoD Single Stock Point and ASSIST-Online, proprietary materials like patterns or drawings are not available through these means. This acquisition is planned as a sole-source procurement under FAR 6.302-1, meaning the Government intends to negotiate with only one source but is open to receiving expressions of interest or proposals within 45 days of the notice (or 30 days if under an existing agreement). The Government may still consider commercial items if offered within 15 days of the notice, although acquisition policies under FAR Part 12 for commercial items do not apply. Responses will inform the Government’s decision on whether to pursue competitive procurement, but non-competition is at the Government’s discretion. The solicitation is managed by the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support office in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
