AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the procurement of two units of a specific component identified as NSN 7H-2040-011135686, in accordance with technical data package version 009 and reference number 2223301-TYC. The items are to be delivered FOB origin to Global Inc. located in Somerset, Pennsylvania. This action is a notice of intent rather than a solicitation for competitive bids, as the government plans to negotiate exclusively with a single approved source. However, it invites interested parties to express their interest or submit quotes, which may influence whether a competitive process is pursued. Selection of a single source is based on the need to preserve quality, relying on a supplier with verified engineering design approval, unique capabilities, and exclusive manufacturing knowledge that is not economically accessible to the government. The contract requires that any alternative source must undergo strict qualification by the government’s design control activity, ensuring compliance with approved procedures and maintaining the part’s quality standards. This includes an engineering source approval by the responsible government engineering activity. The procurement is managed by the Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support facility in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, specifically addressing repair and modification of a double receiver unit. The process underscores the importance of preserving proprietary technical data and manufacturing expertise critical to the part’s performance and reliability.
