AI Contract Overview

The United States Postal Service is seeking to pre-qualify suppliers capable of repairing various air cargo containers, specifically models A, A2, AMJ, LD-7, and Lexan. This pre-qualification process involves evaluating a supplier's ability to meet specific requirements to determine their eligibility for future ordering agreements. The Contracting Officer maintains full discretion over the selection process and may limit the number of pre-qualified suppliers to ensure adequate competition or prioritize the most qualified respondents. It is important to note that pre-qualification is a preliminary evaluation and does not guarantee an award of work or a promise of future contracts. This action is categorized as a sources-sought notice rather than a formal solicitation. Interested parties must have submitted their responses by the deadline of January 27, 2003, to be considered for the pre-qualified list.

Full Description

The United States Postal Service will pre-qualify suppliers capable of repairing damaged A, A2, AMJ, LD-7, and Lexan air cargo containers described in the Statement of Work. Pre-qualification is a process where a supplier's ability to meet specific Postal Service requirements is evaluated. After a review of the Supplier Requirements for Pre-qualification statements have been completed, those deemed most qualified (pre-qualified) to perform the work will be awarded ordering agreements. Not all qualified suppliers may be placed on the pre-qualified list if the purchase team determines that a smaller group will provide adequate competition or that some respondents are considerably more qualified than others thereby precluding contract opportunities for the less qualified. The USPS decision to pre-qualify suppliers is a business decision of the Contracting Officer. Pre-qualification does not constitute an award of the work or a promise of any work in the future. No solicitation exists.
