The contract involves the urgent rental of a Certus Ablation System for Madigan Army Medical Center, a major command under the US Army Medical Command. This non-personal services firm fixed price contract addresses a new requirement due to the hospital's lack of ownership of the Certus Ablation System, a device critical for treating a liver tumor that cannot be addressed through traditional operating room methods. Previously, the facility's physicians were not trained on the system, and the equipment's delicate nature prevented shipment between locations. However, recent design improvements have enhanced the machine's portability, allowing safer transport to multiple facilities, enabling its immediate use for patient care. The solicitation, identified as W81K02-21-P-0103, was posted in July 2021, with the place of performance designated at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington State. The contract falls under the NAICS code 339112, indicating medical equipment manufacturing, and is administered by the Department of Defense. Point of contact for this contract is Richard J. Meadows, reachable via email and phone. This rental service supports the critical need for advanced medical treatment at the facility by providing access to specialized ablative technology otherwise unavailable on site.

Full Description

This a new requirement for Rental Services under a non-personal services firm fixed price contract. Madigan Army Medical Center currently does not own a Certus Ablation System. Previously, none of the physicians in the facility were trained on the use and the devices were not able to be shipped to and from facilities due to the possible damage the machines might suffer as a result of their delicacy. The machines have changed design and are now able to be moved more safely for use in multiple facilities. The machine is requested to urgently treat a patient's liver tumor which cannot be operated on in a traditional OR setting.
