Karve Ski Park

The Karve Ski Park project, led by SD Ski Partners Company LLC and overseen by San Diego County, involves the development of a year-round outdoor synthetic snow sports complex and recreational park located at 26351 North Centre City Parkway in Escondido, California. The facility will feature artificial ski slopes, a magic carpet lift, a zip line, a jump tower, and rooftop solar installations. The project includes a village area comprising four buildings totaling 9,525 square feet, which will house a box office, guest services, first aid, management offices, a food and beverage pavilion with indoor and outdoor seating, equipment rentals, and maintenance storage. The existing golf driving range will be retained with operations limited to early morning hours. The project is currently undergoing environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act, with a Mitigated Negative Declaration indicating that the project will not have significant environmental effects after implementing specific mitigation measures. Key requirements include a Construction Noise Management Plan, an Archaeological and Tribal Monitoring Program to protect cultural resources, and adherence to stormwater and hydrology standards. The project must also comply with Deer Springs Fire Protection District standards, including the provision of a five-foot firefighter pathway and 100 feet of defensible space. Caltrans has provided feedback regarding traffic impact studies, queue analysis, and intersection safety to ensure the development integrates safely with the nearby Interstate 15 corridor.
