The Department of Defense, through the W6QM Micc-Ft Leavenworth, has issued an award notice for the procurement of Kolb LSI Workbook V3.1 in both hard copy and online formats. This acquisition, identified by solicitation number W91QF419Q0020 and NAICS code 511130, is a brand-name, sole-source procurement authorized under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). The materials are designated for use by the Army Management Staff College and the Command and General Staff School, as well as the School for Command Preparation and the Army University Faculty and Staff Development Division. The Kolb Learning Style Inventory is a critical component of the instructional material required for Basic and Advanced Course curricula and the Common Faculty Development Instructor Course Design. Because the LSI is already integrated into the existing Learning Management System, the government determined that selecting an alternative instrument would require a costly and time-consuming redesign of the courseware. Consequently, this specific tool is deemed essential for faculty and students to effectively implement the Experiential Learning Model and fulfill the mission of the organization.

Full Description

Self assessment tools constitute a critical element of CES instructional material, the lack of which will hinder the learning experience and will compromise AMSC's mission. AMSC Basic and Advanced Course curricula requires students to complete a Learning Style Inventory (LSI) assessment. Additionally required for the Command and General Staff School, the School for Command Preparation, and the Army University's Faculty and Staff Development Division. The LSI is part of the CGSC Common Faculty Development Instructor Course Design. It is critical that our faculty and students understand learning style preferences for them to appreciate and implement the CGSC Experiential Learning Model. Kolb LSI Workbook V3.1 (hard copy and online) are currently coded into the Learning Management System courses as noted above. Selection of another instrument would require redesign of the courseware. Due to the time requirements and cost involved, integration of an instrument other than the Kolb LSI into the current courseware is neither feasible nor in the best interests of the government.
