The project site is the launch ramp located on the south end of Lake Despair approximately 390 km west of Thunder Bay, and approximately 200 km south of Kenora.
The work under this contract applies to the wharf west of the launch ramp, and consists of:
Base Work: Wharf – Partial Demolition
Removal and disposal of the outer section of the wharf (approximately 20.9m x3.1m). The outer section consists of timber cribs, timber span and timber piles. The wharf shall be removed to the lakebed including, but not limited to, ballast rock, crib members, piles, stringers, deck, and curbs.
Optional Work: Wharf - Repair
Repair of the inner timber crib section of the wharf (approximately 14.6m x 2.44m). The work includes:

Removal and disposal of:

Timber curbs, cleats, and concrete deck;

Select timber crib members;

Installation of ballast rock, salvaged from the demolished crib sections;

Tie rods and timber bracing;

Timber stringers, deck and curbs;
FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE
Before submitting a bid, it is recommended that bidders visit the site and its surroundings, at their own expense and schedule, to review and verify the form, nature and extent of the work, materials necessary for the completion of the works, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account of error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply.
Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid.
It is anticipated that the Contractor can perform and complete the Work in approximately 6-8 weeks.
