The project involves the mechanical harvesting and removal of non-mobile nuisance and noxious aquatic and wetland vegetation, including organic detrital material, from the southern area of Big Grassy Island in Lake Tohopekaliga, Osceola County, Florida. The contractor is required to begin work within seven days of the Notice to Proceed, with all activities to be completed by December 10, 2026. Performance is subject to strict quality standards, including turbidity limits not exceeding 24 NTU above background levels and a specific rake-throw verification process to ensure the mineral soil layer has been reached. Lake Miccosukee Mechanical Muck Management
Solicitation # FWC 26/27-11
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is soliciting competitive bids for mechanical muck management at Lake Miccosukee in Leon and Jefferson Counties, Florida. The project requires a contractor to use heavy equipment to disturb and turn over the lake bottom to expose fresh, moist muck, which expedites the deterioration and oxidation process and prevents the formation of buoyant floating tussocks. Work will be performed in approved sites, including Hwy 90, Live Oak Point, and Rococo Shoreline. The estimated project budget is 355,000 dollars for a one-year term, with the possibility of one renewal year. All treatments and final invoices must be submitted by June 4, 2027, with partial payments available every two weeks for verified work. To be considered, bidders must be registered in the MyFloridaMarketPlace and SunBiz systems and submit physical bids by October 27, 2026, as digital submissions are deemed non-responsive. Award will be granted to responsive and responsible contractors based on financial ability, experience, and reliability. Key deliverables include daily GPS tracking of work activities and the submission of tracks, polygons, and acreage calculations using compatible software such as OnX, Avenza, or Google Earth. The contractor must comply with various federal and state regulations, including the Clean Air Act, Water Pollution Control Act, and the Build America, Buy America provision, and must provide necessary insurance documentation before initiating work.
