Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the Lawrence Livermore National Security (LLNS), LLC under contract no. DE-AC52-07NA27344 (Contract 44) with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is seeking an initial set of partners to collaborate on research & technology development in advanced manufacturing. The R&D collaborations will utilize a newly constructed Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory (AML) designed for the express purpose of facilitating collaborative research and development with industry. This "Expression of Interest" is intended to identify a set of candidate companies for consideration as initial partners in this exciting new initiative. LLNL plans to conduct collaborative research & development at the new AML in the areas of design, materials, processes, applications, and qualification/certification. These areas were selected based on the needs, capabilities and ongoing work at LLNL as well as what is perceived to have the greatest mutual benefit to industry. This Expression of Interest will be reviewed by LLNL for the purpose of selecting potential initial partners. Based on the discussion, and draft agreements, final selections will be made for a founding set of collaborations. LLNL hopes to complete this process so collaborations can begin in the late spring or early summer of 2018.
