Library Boiler Replacement

The Town of Westminster, Massachusetts, is soliciting bids for the replacement of two existing Peerless gas-fired boilers at the Forbush Memorial Library located at 118 Main Street. The project requires the contractor to drain and isolate the existing system, remove and lawfully dispose of the old boilers, and install two new Ideal Gallant Solo boilers (one rated 399K and one rated 250K, or equivalent) in an adjacent room. The scope includes reworking feed and return piping and replacing all flue piping to provide venting to a fresh air source. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible and eligible bidder based on the prices provided in the bid forms. Compliance with Massachusetts General Laws is mandatory, including the payment of prevailing wages and the requirement that all onsite employees complete a 10-hour OSHA-approved construction safety and health course. Bidders must provide bid security equal to five percent of the total bid and, upon award, furnish both performance and payment bonds equal to 100 percent of the contract price. The Town of Westminster must be named as an additional insured on all liability policies. Payment will be made within fifteen days of receiving a satisfactory periodic estimate, subject to retentions not exceeding five percent. Liquidated damages for delays beyond the established completion date are set at 250 dollars per day, excluding weekends and holidays.
