Full Description
The Contractor shall provide primary care medical physician services for the U.S. Embassy Tallinn. The physicians will provide medical services as representatives of the contractor and not as Department of State Medical Providers.
GP Local Physician services:
- Patient appointments at the U.S. Embassy Compound 4 hours a week.
- Patient examinations (drivers, medical clearance, etc.)
- Prescriptions for patients including regular prescriptions and controlled medicine prescriptions.
- Accept duty calls on the days the Contractor is not at the Embassy compound
- Liaise with US Embassy Registered nurse, Regional Medical Officer, Regional Medical Officer / Psychiatrist and other personnel from MED regarding patient care, information about local medical services, and assistance with scheduling and coordination of local care and hospital services.

1.1. General requirements:

- Contractor shall have patient appointments every Monday and Thursday from 14:00-16:00, totaling 4 hours per week (dates and times are negotiable if they total 4 hours per week).
- During scheduled hours evaluates eligible Embassy community members that are under the Chief of Mission and determines and recommends appropriate medical treatment for medical conditions ranging from minor complaints to serious emergency illnesses or injuries requiring case management or hospitalization and/or medical evaluation; consults on complex cases and medical evacuation.
- Contractor shall create a medical record documenting all patient encounters and maintain the official clinical record. A copy of each record will be provided to the US Embassy Health Unit for inclusion in the patient’s MED record as an external record. Contractor physicians will not document directly into MED clinical systems unless specifically authorized through contract modification.
- Contractor shall accept phone calls when they are not at the Embassy from Embassy employees and eligible family members. This is usually limited to days when the Registered Nurse is not at the embassy or not on call, or when patients are following up with the contracted physician. Currently the Registered Nurse takes after hours calls until 9PM on weeknights and two weekends a month
- All materials and supplies as needed shall be provided by the Embassy.
- The Contractor shall issue prescriptions to patients as needed based on his/her concurrence with the medical care. The prescriptions shall be for chronic illnesses and/or acute medical problems.
- Additional services will be on an as needed basis, mostly when the Embassy Nurse is on holiday, away, or on sick leave. (Additional services will be mostly phone coverage in case of an emergency.)
