The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in Patuxent River, Maryland, plans to award a sole source modification to Naval Systems, Inc. (NSI) for additional logistics support services under task order N00178-05-D-4466 M803. These services pertain to the PMA-231 E-2/C-2 Program and will encompass Logistics Program Management Support, Logistics Supportability Analyses, and support related to the Power and Propulsion System and Support Equipment. The modification is awarded under sole source authority due to NSI being the only responsible source capable of meeting the agency’s urgent requirements without incurring unacceptable delays. This contract modification extends the period of performance from December 13, 2011, to May 12, 2012, at the current rates stipulated in the existing contract. The extension allows the government time to conduct solicitation, evaluation, and award of a competitive follow-on procurement. The action aligns with federal acquisition regulations that permit exercising contract options which were not evaluated during the initial award. The notice clarifies it is not a solicitation for proposals and requests all communications to be submitted in writing to the designated contract specialist at the Naval Air Systems Command.
