Lunch Creek Trail Reconstruction

The Forest Service contemplates releasing solicitation AG-0116-S-12-0108 for the Lunch Creek Trail Reconstruction project on or after July 16, 2012, on this FedBizOpps website. All interested prospective offerors should check this site on that date and from time to time afterwards to download the solicitation and any amendments that might be posted. The estimated magnitude of the project is between $250,000 and $500,000, including options. The work involves reconstructing a portion of the Lunch Creek Trail; major work items include stone pitching, stone steps, full bench trail construction, aggregate surfacing, bridge construction, and laborer work. Small section of the trail will be relocated to a new alignment that follows a more gentle grade. Proposals will be due approximately thirty days after solicitation release. While contract award will likely occur during the summer of 2012, the period for on-the-ground work will be from April 15, 2013, to October 15, 2013. The project site is at Lunch Creek, approximately 16 miles north of downtown Ketchikan, Alaska, and the north dead-end of Tongass Highway. Ketchikan is on Revillagigedo Island and has airline, barge, and Alaska Marine Highway service. A hosted site visit is not anticipated, but all prospective offerors are expected to visit the site at their own convenience. The trail is on public lands and is easily accessible to prospective offerors. The contract clause at FAR 52.236-3, Site Investigation and Conditions Affecting the Work, will be included in the solicitation and contract. A total small business set-aside is contemplated.
