The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal Health Inspection Service (APHIS), National Veterinary Science Laboratory (NVSL), Ames IA, intends to negotiate an one year maintenance agreement contract, on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR Part 13.106 (b), with Applied Biosystems, for maintenance on the Applied Biosystems equipment: (1) Sequence Detection System, (2) FAST Real Time PCR System. This maintenance agreement will be procured as a commercial item in accordance with the procedures in FAR Part 12 (Acquisition of Commercial Items) and FAR Part 13 (Simplified Acquisition Procedures). The sole source determination is based on Applied Biosystems being the sole source for certified trained labor and technical services for all instrumentation manufactured and sold by Applied Biosystems. The period of performance for the required maintenance agreement commences on October 1, 2009 and concludes September 30, 2010. This is not a request for quote. However, all interested parties may contact the Contract Specialist listed below by email only at gloria.j.benson@aphis.usda.gov. Sources interested in responding to this requirement must be able to provide compelling evidence that they can obtain/provide a maintenance agreement contract utilizing factory trained service engineers, certified factory authorized parts and the service provided must not invalidate equipment warranties for the equipment listed. Responses must be submitted electronically, via email, to gloria.j.benson@aphis.usda.gov. The deadline for the submittal of responses is November 10, 2009.
