The National Institutes of Health plans to award a Firm-Fixed-Price Purchase Order to Hamamatsu Corporation for maintenance services on the NanoZoomer S60 system under solicitation number 75N98026Q00665, citing FAR Part 6.302-1 to justify sole-source procurement due to Hamamatsu being the only known responsible source capable of meeting the technical and performance requirements. The agreement grants Hamamatsu exclusive authorization to perform all maintenance, repair, and related services on the NanoZoomer S60, prohibiting any unauthorized third party from servicing the equipment. This action is not a competitive solicitation, but the Government invites small businesses including 8(a), SDVOSB, HUBZone, SDB, VOSB, and WOSB entities to submit capability statements demonstrating their ability to fulfill the requirement by 9:00 a.m. EDT on June 26, 2026, with responses sent to vensonm@mail.nih.gov. The Government retains full discretion to evaluate submissions and determine whether to open this requirement to competition, though an award to Hamamatsu is anticipated within five days of the notice unless a viable alternative is identified. The performance location is in Bethesda, Maryland, and the NAICS code for the procurement is 811210, indicating it is for commercial and industrial machinery and equipment repair and maintenance.

Hamamatsu Corporation shall be the sole contractor authorized to provide maintenance, repair, and other services for the NanoZoomer S60. No unauthorized third party shall perform any such services on the NanoZoomer S60.

This notice is not a request for competitive quotations. Hamamatsu Corporation is the only known source capable of providing the required services for the NanoZoomer S60 system.

Capability statements must provide sufficient documentation and technical evidence to clearly demonstrate the vendor’s ability to perform the required services. The Government will evaluate all responses received. A determination by the Government to compete this proposed requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.

It is anticipated that an award will be issued approximately five (5) days after the date of this notice unless the Government determines that another vendor has the capability to meet this requirement.
