The subject effort described below has been awarded to Sanaria Inc on 6/30/2017. The U.S. Army Contracting Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Natick Contracting Division (ACC-APG-NCD), on behalf of the Advanced Medical Development (AMD) Program Office of Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC), intends to award a follow-on Cost reimbursement contract on a sole source basis to Sanaria, Inc., for the enhanced development of an improved manufacturing process of an irradiated sporozoites-based malaria vaccine to support large scale manufacturing for use in Phase 3 clinical trials. The requirement calls for the expanded development of a large scale automated manufacturing process that is compliant with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) that will produce large amounts of malaria vaccine to be utilized in future Phase 3 clinical trials. The vaccine must utilize irradiated aseptic, purified, cryopreserved, attenuated (non-replicating), metabolically active Plasmodium falciparum (Pf) sporozoites (SPZ) extracted from mosquitos that are grown and incubated. In addition, the vaccine must be administered intravenously.
