Phillips Park is considered the jewel of the community. Mastodon Lake, which is in Phillips Park, provides stormwater detention and is used by boaters, anglers and bird watchers and admired by park visitors. However, the Lake has developed an issue with excessive aquatic vegetation which is reducing the aesthetic appeal and negatively impacting the water quality of the Lake. [MP4.1] The success of this project is highly dependent upon the manner in which the restoration and maintenance is completed. A firm or person who is a qualified ecologist who is familiar in shoreline and wetland restoration and native vegetation is necessary to ensure that the project is successful.
