Medical Director for Sarasota County Fire Department Emergency Medical Services

Sarasota County is seeking a qualified physician to serve as the Medical Director for the Sarasota County Fire Department Emergency Medical Services through solicitation 262860MN. The selected Medical Director will provide clinical oversight for all Emergency Medical Responders, Emergency Medical Technicians, and paramedics, ensuring that pre-hospital healthcare services are safe and medically correct. Key responsibilities include the development and monitoring of Advanced Life Support, Basic Life Support, EMD, and hazardous materials protocols, as well as the oversight of medication formulary management and Continuous Quality Improvement programs. The role also requires staffing the Emergency Operations Center during declared emergencies and collaborating with local healthcare providers and technical colleges. The County anticipates an initial contract term of five years. To qualify, candidates must be licensed physicians in the State of Florida, registered with the Division of Medical Quality Assurance, and board certified in Emergency Medicine by the ABEM or ABPS.
