The Federal Bureau of Prisons U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield, Missouri, intends to award a sole source, firm-fixed price purchase order to Henry Schein Inc. for the procurement of Medisystems Ready Set Blood Tubing and Arterial/Venous Fistula Needles. This specific equipment is required because it is calibrated to the facility's transonic dialysis machines, which is critical for ensuring the accuracy of blood flow and maintaining patient care standards. The anticipated contract period runs from October 1, 2008, through September 30, 2009. The estimated order includes 960 cases of hemodialysis blood tubing with viral-blocking patient transducer protectors and 168 cases of 15 gauge x 1 inch fistula needle sets with anti-stick protectors. While the government intends to proceed with Henry Schein Inc. due to calibration requirements and past performance, other firms were given the opportunity to provide written notification and supporting evidence of their ability to meet these requirements by September 3, 2008. The procurement is managed by the Department of Justice under NAICS code 423450.
