The project involves replacing asphalt concrete surfacing and updating pavement delineation on designated highway segments within the existing State right of way, with all work confined to paved surfaces and preexisting non-vegetated turnouts to minimize environmental impact. Construction area signs and portable changeable message signs will be installed between mileage markers R26.3 to R28.8 and R31.1 to R34.1, ensuring visibility and safety without causing notable soil disturbance. The primary goal is to preserve the structural integrity and long-term functionality of the roadway by restoring the surfacing to current standards. All activities are planned to occur entirely within Caltrans District 1’s jurisdiction in California, with no expansion beyond established right-of-way boundaries. The project is forecasted by the California Department of Transportation, with James McIntosh, Senior Environmental Scientist, designated as the primary point of contact for inquiries.
