Merimere Water Tank Rehabilitation

The City of Meriden is soliciting bids for the rehabilitation of the Merimere Water Storage Tank located at 568 Reservoir Avenue, Meriden, Connecticut. The project scope includes the removal of existing coating systems, full blasting for surface preparation, and the application of new NSF-certified coatings. Additional structural requirements involve repairing the concrete foundation chime and roof rafter gussets, installing a new AWWA vacuum/pressure relief assembly and hatch assembly, and modifying the exterior shell and roof ladders to include a ladder safety climb or personal fall arrest system. An optional line item is included for the installation of a grade-level auxiliary manway with a minimum diameter of 30 inches. All work must adhere to AWWA D100, D102, and C652 standards, and the contractor is required to employ a full-time coatings inspector. Solicitation B027-10 was released on August 28, 2026, with a response deadline of October 7, 2026. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, with a preference for Connecticut-based firms in the event of a tie. Bidders must submit electronic proposals including a pricing sheet, a notarized non-collusive statement, a bidder's qualification statement, and a bid bond equal to 10 percent of the bid amount. The successful contractor must provide performance and payment bonds for 100 percent of the contract price and comply with Build America, Buy America (BABA) requirements, prevailing wage laws, and Federal/Connecticut OSHA standards. The agreement will be executed via a Purchase Order and a Standard Construction Agreement including EJCDC.
