The contract involves a planned market survey by the US Army’s Office of the Project Manager for Tank and Medium-caliber Armament Systems to facilitate a medium caliber ammunition demonstration scheduled for October-November 2002 at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland. The demonstration will feature a 30/40mm MK44 Bushmaster Automatic Cannon integrated into a Bradley fighting vehicle and will include firing tests of both 30mm and Super 40mm ammunition. Access to certain firings will be restricted based on security clearances. Multiple government and industry partners will supply necessary equipment, ammunition, test facilities, and personnel, with Boeing Ordnance providing the MK44 Cannon and United Defense LP managing the Bradley vehicle and integration services. Funding and logistical support for the test site and personnel come from various Army project offices, while ammunition is provided through collaborative efforts, and the Aberdeen Test Center will oversee site management and coordination. In parallel with the MK44 demonstration, a separate demonstration will highlight 30mm Air Bursting ammunition and fuze setting systems, where contractors are responsible for supplying all relevant weapons, systems, and technical support. These weapons must be either free-standing or compatible with existing test center mounts, and contractors must secure proper hazard classifications for their ammunition and provide detailed design information to ensure safety and environmental compliance. Participation is expected to incur no cost to the government, which intends to use loan agreements for equipment. Foreign nationals must seek permission through their embassies to attend. Interested parties are invited to respond within 15 days, submitting all information at no cost or obligation to the government, as this effort is for capability assessment rather than procurement. Relevant points of contact and submission details are provided to facilitate communication.
